Cheap Little Pig
For 600 euros you can buy a decrepit 1991 klr 250 with 57ish thousand
kilometers on its' belt. Along comes a 1990 klr 250 parts bike and a
bunch of spares that can only be described as garbage. Luck would
have it so that desperate klr comrades need spares for their blown
camshafts (watch that oil) so two engine blocks go to a rider in
distress for the amount of 200 euros.
And thus for 400
euros a complete newbie gets his first motorcycle. The best part is
that rusty old bikes need a good restoration and a ludicrous amount
of elbow grease to reclaim their former glory. Trusty spanner in hand
our newbie eagerly starts working planning to revive the little piggy
during the winter and have epic post-pandemic adventures on it at
spring time.
Welcome to the klr
diaries, the blog that's all about a guy, his newly acquired
motorcycle and the dreams and hopes that only neglected motorcycles
can cause. At this point in time, the klr is sitting in my garage
with a beating engine that kicks to life with some effort and purrs
like a kitten when running. All is set for the beginning of my
descent into the ravages of time and neglect.
I am planning to
post at least every fortnight, this is a diary in every respect after
all. For starters it is going to be mechanical stuff but I will be
adding all of the adventures that await us.
